A jazzy visit from a dead person

Michael Musto, Village Voice

Closed 4 Sep 2013

Its the resurrection no one was expecting: 1970s Hollywood icon TELLY SAVALAS has risen from the grave to give the cynical, unromantic youth of today a good kick in the pants in TELLY SAVALAS LIVE, a hilarious "posthumous lounge act."

Written by New York's Hunter Nelson and Directed by Taylor Negron (Fast Times at Ridgemont High) TELLY SAVALAS LIVE boasts devilishly smart writing and impeccable comic timing. Actor Tom DiMenna plays Savalas and channels the unmistakable chutzpah of the long dead Greek-American celebrity with pitch-perfect gravitas. Music Accompaniment: Alex Leonard. This new installment of Telly Savalas Live features Special Guests: Summer and Eve, Flo Ankah and Stuart Luth.
