Since all is well, keep it so: wake not a sleeping wolf.
Henry VI Part II carries on where we left off in Henry VI, with Hal facing the imminent death of his father and the prospect of choosing between his royal duty and loyalty to a corrupt Falstaff. Once again, direction comes from Gregory Doran as Antony Sher as Sir John Falstaff, Jasper Britton as King Henry, Alex Hassell as wayward Prince Hal star. Presented in cooperation with BAM, The Royal Shakespeare Company and The Ohio State University.
henry iv 1367 - 1413
After the success of the suppressed rebellion, there is no time to celebrate. The King's health is failing, and son Prince Hal, despite his best intentions, still isn't up to the task of inheriting the throne. Meanwhile, Hal's hell-raising friend Sir John Falstaff has been to the countryside to recruit fresh troops for Henry's cause - only he is more concerned with lining his pockets with the King's gold. Hal is faced with a difficult choice as his father's health continues on a downward spiral; he must choose between duty to the English throne and loyalty to his old friend as a new rebellion stirs. Shakespeare's epic conclusion proves heartbreaking for Hal, as his destiny comes to claim him.
SHAKESPEARE'S KING CYCLE
The four plays that make up Shakespeare's War of The Roses collection of works remains today a crucial part of the Bard's great works, lending greater depth to English royal history, and providing inspiration to modern works such as George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones anthology. With a host of great British stars set to reprise their roles this side of the Atlantic, BAM will be the go-to place for Shakespeare lovers in 2016.
