Beautiful, Excellent, Go See It,
Apr 01, 2013
reviewer: from New York, New York
My spouse and I went to see The Assembled Parties on a Friday night and were blown away by the writing, the performances, and the set design. It was so great that we did something we almost never do – we went back and saw it again on Sunday night. Judith Light inhabits the role fully, as she always does, and it is a pleasure to watch her perform. The way her eyes tear up or twinkle is a pure marvel. She delivers her lines with such perfection that it is easy to feel you are overhearing a private conversation instead of memorized dialog.Jessica Hecht gives a rich, complex performance, complete with perfectly timed humor, fleeting but meaningful glances at the audience, and moments of such depth and emotion that I don’t know how to describe them. (Go see for yourself) She courts everyone on stage and every member of the audience, and we are all in the palm of her hand. I am a new fan of her work, as of Friday, March 29th.This one is well worth the time & the money. Do not miss it.
