RACE Begins Previews 11/16 At The Ethel Barrymore Theatre

RACE begins previews on Monday, November 16, 2009 at 8:00 pm at The Ethel Barrymore Theatre (243 West 47th St.). The official opening night is Sunday, December 6, 2009.

RACE, the new play written and directed by David Mamet, stars James Spader, David Alan Grier, Kerry Washington and Richard Thomas.

In recent news, Kerry Washington was named to President Obama's Committee on the Arts and Humanities. Kerry was one of 25 people who were named by President Obama as members of the committee, and the only one currently appearing on Broadway. The others include: talent agent Bryan Lourd, managing director and co-chairman of Creative Artists Agency; actors Sarah Jessica Parker, Edward Norton; cellist Yo-Yo Ma, Teresa Heinz Kerry, the philanthropist and wife of Senator John Kerry, actors Forest Whitaker and Alfre Woodard; director George C. Wolfe; Anna Wintour of Vogue; Damian Woetzel, the former New York City Ballet dancer; and the architect Thom Mayne.

The committee, which has served the administration since 1982, works to keep creativity alive by supporting programs in the arts and humanities fields.

RACE is produced by: Jeffrey Richards, Jerry Frankel, Jam Theatricals, JK Productions, Peggy Hill & Nicholas Quinn Rosenkranz, Scott M. Delman, Terry Allen Kramer/James L. Nederlander, Swinsky Deitch, Bat-Barry Productions, Ronald Frankel, James Fuld Jr., Kathleen K. Johnson, Terry Schnuck, The Weinstein Company, Jay & Cindy Gutterman/Stewart Mercer and Marc Frankel.

RACE feature sets by Tony Award winner Santo Loquasto, lighting design by Brian MacDevitt and costumes by Tom Broecker.

Tickets to RACE can be purchased through Telecharge.com or 212-239-6200. Visit Raceonbroadway.com for more information.
