Coppelia is much more than a full-length ballet - it's really a ballet feast!

Why See New York City Ballet: Coppelia?

A Fantastical Tale

New York City Ballet's production of Coppelia is a vibrant and beautiful portrayal of this E.T.A. Hoffmann story, with choreography by George Balanchine and Alexandra Danilova. This comic ballet tells the tale of two villagers and their blossoming romance as well as the life-like dancing doll created by their peculiar (but highly inventive!) neighbor, Dr Coppelius.

George Balanchine add Coppelia to NYCB's repertoire in 1974, adding additional male solos and a whole new third act - an impressive grande finale which features some of his most boistrous dances. It's a charming and utterly enchanting production is the perfect introduction to ballet for younger audiences!
