A taste of Balanchine's finest achievements!
To France for another exploration of George Balanchine's greatest works, where we're taken from Faustian revelry in Walpurgisnacht Ballet, to spontaneous intimacy in the rarely staged Sonatine, with more sublime works besides, that will move and delight in equal measures.
Alongside the two ballets above, the programme also includes the spectral tragedy of La Valse, halfway between a dream and nightmare, where death seduces a woman who's own vanity is all consuming in this supernatural tribute to the waltz. Rounding out the bill is the jubilant Symphony in C with it's Georges Bizet. Glamour, glitter and dazzle are key to this diamond encrusted spectacular, neatly finishing the evening with a extravagant climax.
