Always a highlight of Lincoln Center's calendar, the Mostly Mozart Festival returns again in 2016, boasting yet another impressive schedule of events and performances celebrating the great composer. A decade ago, Lincoln Center commissioned the seasoned New York company the Mark Morris Dance Group to create a trilogy of works for the festival. Their resulting Mozart Dances were rapturously received by critics and audiences alike, and now they'll revive the trilogy again this August.
The company will be accompanied by the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra, and pianists Garrick Ohlsson and Inon Barnatan. Elegant and visually inventive, these dances stand as one of the highpoints of Mark Morris' repertoire. The Mozart pieces are as follows:
Piano Concerto No. 11 in F major, K.413
Sonata in D major for two pianos, K.448
Piano Concerto No. 27 in B-flat major, K.595
