Theater Breaking Through Barriers present the world premiere new play by McArthur Genius Grant recipient Samuel D. Hunter. The healing follows a group of disabled friends who were taught they could be 'cured' by the power of prayer, by a counsellor at a summer camp they attended in their youth. Twenty five years later and the friends gather for a funeral, and the memories of their time at the camp come back to haunt them.
Samual D. Hunter won huge acclaim in 2013 for his agile and affecting play The Whale, which garnered him a Drama Desk and Lucille Lortel Award. This production of The Healing is directed by Stella Powell Jones.
