What distinguishes Mr. Baitz' writing is its ability to embrace the ambiguities of political and moral dilemmas that might easily be reduced to blacks and whites.

Why See The Film Society?

Politics and ethics collide in this play set in a 1970s South African boy's boarding school where a young teacher runs an extracurricular film appreciation club. When the school becomes involved with an Apartheid controversy, he finds himself having to choose between his activist colleague or the headmaster who can help to determine the path his career takes.

The Film Society was written by Jon Robin Baitz, an American playwright, who was raised in Brazil and South African but not resides in Southampton, New York.
