"A singing, dancing powerhouse punctuated by dialogue that rings true and real. The dialogue sparkles as brightly as the song lyrics. The songs are completely infectious and fun ranging in genre from rock and roll to hip hop."

Why See Out of My Comfort Zone?

Middle School, New York. Everyone's got a secret.

The Children's Acting Company returns to the stage with this innovative, humorous and poignant Rock musical that confronts bullying and the mire of self identity head on. With strong anti-bullying and LGBTQ themes, Out of My Comfort Zone sets out to explore how we learn to grow in Middle School, whilst at the mercy of the world outside us, and how we find out who we are.

Written by husband and wife team Ivy Vale & Rick Reil, this show about love, gender, breaking stereotypes, expectations and friendship aims to strip back the anxieties in our teenage years. Through the eyes of life long best friends Josh and Rachel, we expereice what life is like at middle school, where everybody's secrets are at the mercy of The Viper - an online blogger who's on a crusade to expose theme with maximum social impact.

“We were driven to write Out of My Comfort Zone as a way of making a strong statement against bullying, specifically bullying that targets any child or teen who may be perceived as gay or identify as LGBTQ. There is a clear need for reality-based material for young teens who want to see shows that reflect their own lives and deliver characters they can relate to. The songs, influenced by everything from The Who’s “Tommy” to ‘60’s girl groups to The Beastie Boys, really resonate with our 12-14 year old cast.” - Ivy Vale.
