Lang Lang guest-stars for the opening gala!

Carnegie Hall kicks off its exciting 2017/18 season with a guest appearance by the celebrated Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra, led by superstar conductor Yannick Nezet-Seguin! This triple program focuses on the magic of Bernstein and Gershwiin in an all-American program that's a must-see for fans of the Broadway greats. And if that's not enough to get your attention, then worldwide piano genius Lang Lang will be putting his prodigious talents to the ivories!

  • BERNSTEIN On the Waterfront Symphonic Suite
  • GERSHWIN Rhapsody in Blue
  • BERNSTEIN Symphonic Dances from West Side Story

This young yet eminent classical artist has appeared in Time Magazine's annual list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World and in 2008, his skills caught the imagination of over four billion people as they watched Lang Lang's performance in the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics. Within China, his influence has grown to such an extent that he has has inspired over 40 million children to learn to play classical piano - a phenomenon coined as "the Lang Lang effect" by the BBC, which today shows no sign of slowing down.
