A STAR-STUDDED CELEBRATION OF 125 YEARS OF CARNEGIE HALL!
Can you believe it? 2016 sees the 125th anniversary of the opening of Carnegie Hall, one of the world's most famous concert venues. To celebrate this momentous occasion, the trustees are inviting some of music's most eminent artists to perform in a one-off gala on the very date that the Hall opened! Confirmed guests for the gala include regulars Yo-Yo Ma, Renee Fleming and Lang Lang, as well as Martina Arroyo, Emanuel Ax, Jessye Norman and James Taylor.
French-born Chinese American cellist and former child prodigy Yo-Yo Ma will be working magic on his famous $2.5 million Montagnana at the Gala, showing just why he is one of the most respected artists of the cello in the world.
Renee Fleming is one of our very own homegrown lyric opera sopranos, having performed the most challenging roles in the medium including Countess Almaviva in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro and Desdemona in Verdi's Otello. A multi-lingual singer, she is also the winner of both the National Medal of Arts and the Richard Tucker Award.
