Producers superstars Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick are together again Neil Simon's hilarious play.
What do you get when you combine the writing of Neil Simon (Biloxi Blues, Lost in Yonkers), the direction of Joe Mantello (Wicked, Assassins, Take Me Out, Three Days of Rain), and the star power of Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick? A guaranteed smash hit! Simon's play centers on a pair of desperately mismatched roommates - one sloppy and one neat - who are arguably the most memorable pair of characters that the successful playwright has ever written. The original Broadway production of The Odd Couple opened at Broadway's Plymouth Theatre in March 1965. Art Carney and Walter Matthau starred as, respectively, Felix and Oscar. The production won four 1965 Tonys, including awards for Matthau (Actor), Simon (Author), Mike Nichols (Director) and Oliver Smith (Scenic Designer). Matthau then repeated his role on film opposite the Felix of Jack Lemmon. The long-running TV version of Simon's work featured Jack Klugman (Oscar) and Tony Randall (Felix).
