A light-hearted romantic comedy from writer Nandita Shenoy
The lives of a newlywed couple get put into a spin in Nandita Shenoy's romantic comedy Washer Dryer. Received by critics on its LA premiere last year as a cross-cultural Barefoot in the Park, this breezy play was first produced by the Rasaka Theatre Company, which focuses on the voices of South Asian artists.
The story follows the travails of Indian-American actress Sonya and Asian-American freelance photographer Michael as they attempt to co-habit in Sonya's co-op apartment. Michael's formidable mother, the suspicious co-op manager Wendy and Sonya's friend Sam all descend upon the apartment, wreaking various degrees of havoc and causing all kinds of mishaps and misunderstandings.
