Taking place at the historic Beacon Theatre, the opening night of the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival will feature the world premiere of the docu-film, Time is Illmatic. The film traces the impact of hip-hop artist Nas' groundbreaking debut album, Illmatic, with Nas himself taking to the stage after the screening for an exclusive performance.

'Illmatic' was released in 1994 and has become a corner-stone of hip-hop and rap since, influencing many of today's most popular artists. The film 'Time is Illmatic' was created and directed by multimedia artist one9, and charts the artistic and social impact the album had on music, and continues to have almost two decades since it came out. In fact, this world premiere comes just three days short of the album's 20th anniversary.
