Set phasers to jazz, Di Meola's bending minds with his complex explorations of all things fusion!
With the release of his 24th album Elysium on the horizon, Al Di Meola, aka the King of Latin Jazz Fusion, is playing a handful of US dates, coming to B.B. King Blues Club in New York, NY, Closed August 24, 2016. A true guitar virtuoso and visionary in his field, a chance to see his furiously intricate fretwork is not to be missed!
Di Meola studied briefly at the Berklee College of Music before joining Chick Corea's band Return to Forever in 1974, one of the forerunners of Jazz Fusion in the 70's. After recording two albums with Corea, he set out on a solo journey, exploring a variety of styles and becoming one of the world's best fusion guitarists on the way. He is widely lauded as a fearless innovator, experimenting not only with jazz, but with acoustic and world music.
