Despite its ubiquity, the Blue Man Group retains a certain mystery, which is part of its appeal. It's almost impossible to describe "Tubes" in a few sentences.

Blue Man Group is one of New York's longest-running shows and one of its hardest to describe! In the show, three enigmatic bald and blue characters take the audience through a multi-sensory experience that combines theater, percussive music, art, science and vaudeville into a form of entertainment that is like nothing else either on or off Broadway. These guys pay no lip service to live theatre; in fact, they're completely mute, on and off the stage to stay in character. Imagine yourself being an alien from outer space and getting to grips with Earth technology. The trio convey a sense of wonder and naivity at our human idiosyncracies, whilst at the same time expertly performing hilarious sketches and stunts, often with two of them ganging up on the third member. Ever wanted to eat a Twinkie in an elegant dinner sitting? Or how about trying to concentrate on three simultaneous streams of information? These three enigmas playfully expose our foibles and engage in audience participation; which means that no two shows will ever be the same.
The show's origins lead back to the late '80s, when longtime friends Chris Wink, Phil Stanton and Matt Goldman began to appear on the streets of Manhattan covered in blue make-up. The appearances led to a theatrical show, which premiered at the legendary performance space La Mama, ETC and finally to off-Broadway's Astor Place Theatre in 1991. Since then, over 60 Blue Men have entertained audiences in New York, Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas and beyond. Viva La Blue Man Group!
