A terrific, heart-stirring revival

Charles Isherwood, The New York Times

Why See Violet?

Two-time Tony winner Sutton Foster stars in the Broadway premiere of this moving musical about a disfigured young woman who undertakes an epic bus journey across the USA in order to have her facial scar healed by a televangelist.

Along the way, she befriends a host of unlikely travel companions including two US soldiers, and discovers a lot more about her own courage and beauty than she'd bargained for.

The 1997 Off-Broadway preview run of Violet earned the production several high profile awards, including an Obie Award, the Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best Musical and the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Musical.

The play now returns for a much-anticipated Broadway premiere run which stars Sutton Foster in the lead role. Nominated for four 2014 Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical and Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical.
