Pulitzer winner Suzan-Lori Parks' knietic exploration of Black history
A scorching exploration of African-American archetypes and stereotypes, The Death of the Last Black Man On Earth is a dreamlike trip through Black history, with Black Man with Drumstick as your guide. Completely non-linear, and bursting with an improvisational freshness and jazzy looseness, this play is one of the earliest and most genre-defying works from Suzan-Lori Parks. Among the cast for this Signature production are Daniel J. Watts (Hamilton) and Wiiliam DeMeritt (The Normal Heart).
Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks is Signature Theater's current Residency One playwright. She was awarded the Pulitzer for her 2001 play Topdog/Underdog, and among her other works being staged during her Signature residency next year are Venus and The Red Letter Plays: In The Blood.
