This deeply compelling drama focuses on a shoemaker, an Italian Jew, who was sent to America by his father in the late 1930's (when Italy aligned itself with Nazi Germany).
Setting: New York City, a shoe shop in Hell's Kitchen.
Time: One day, a turning point in American history.
The Shoemaker retreats into his shoe shop. But not even this once safe haven provides solace on this devastating day as he confronts his past, present and an uncertain future.
