Disappointing!, Jan 24, 2012
reviewer: TC from San Diego
The last time I saw Cirque du Soleil was a long time ago, and I came away absolutely impressed. So my anticipation was high for this show. There were certainly highlights but overall I was really disappointed. There were several parts that honestly felt like high school skits rather than professional performances.
The Good: The female electric bass player was superb, the electric guitarist, the one legged acrobat, the male/female acrobats on the wire, the female acrobat who emerged from the oversized book, and the entire band and lead vocalist were all excellent. Loved the lighted body suits, and in the opening scene when the perfomers were "painting" on the screen while running/skating up in the air.
Most of the rest of the acts were really mundane and at times I really thought we were just watching "filler" type routines. We bought the $100 tickets and I walked out feeling like I got about half a show. Maybe trying to merge Jackson's music with acrobatics was a bad strategy.

Exceeded my expectations, Feb 23, 2012
reviewer: Katie in KC from Kansas CIty
My husband & I LOVED this show! We are both MJ fans and fans of Cirque. The two together were brilliant! Our seats were outstanding (row 103 in Sprint Center), the sound system and light show was awesome! It was just enough Cirque to add entertainment value, but the star of the show was MJ and his music - just as it should be since it was in his memory! The show was extremely well done in capturing Michael's troubled childhood which led him to be the worldwide humanitarian that he was. You felt love, peace, compassion and unity throughout the whole show. It was very grounding and you left wanting world peace to be a reality. It was a great pop/rock experience with a message of faith as well. Extremely well done!

Wanted it to be great, but..., Mar 17, 2012
reviewer: Rich from Milwaukee
The opening number, combining the live performers with
video, was so creative and well done that my expectations
were high. But, aside from a handful of brilliant moments , it
went downhill from there for both my wife and myself. The
extraordinary talent of the CDS performers and the musicians
is not at issue. Everyone was amazing, even breathtaking, on
an individual level. The production as a whole, however, failed
to deliver enough of MJ to be satisfying. At times, the show
seemed to be more of a tribute to special effects than to the
man and his music. Loud, bright, and disjointed most of the
time. Elegant and moving on rare occasions. We left before
the end to beat the line out of the parking garage, which
became preferable to continuing the hammering assault on
our senses. This comes from an old rock n' roller who loves
concerts and cranks up the volume, so I'm not just being
overly sensitive. They tried too hard, and lost Michael in the
process.

MORE THAN DISAPPOINTED!!!, Mar 12, 2012
reviewer: Michael Jackson Fan from Raleigh, NC
I don't know if I've ever been this disappointed in a show in my lifetime and I'm 56 years old. Neither my husband nor myself liked this show even a little bit! We had listened to the CD that came from this production and loved it, and we love Michael Jackson, but this was not worth even $10. to us, much less the $160. we paid plus $10. to park! What a waste of money. The music was so horribly loud, you couldn't even understand the words most of the time. We saw quite a few people get up and leave! We were ready to leave after the first 15 minutes. There was a long line of unhappy people at guest services when I went to complain. They gave us a sheet containing Cirque du Soleil's e-mail address and phone #'s to complain to, which we definitely have done! We do not recommend this show at all!
