After 21 years the magic is lost, Mar 18, 2009
reviewer: Let the Phantom Burn from Houston
I Just got back from a wondferul trip to NYC, I actually proposed to my girlfriend of two years there. She had never been to the city before and I couldn't wait to share with her my best memories.
One of which is seeing Phantom of the Opera on Broadway.

I have see the show 4 times. The first time was a travelling show in Oklahoma, it was absolutley stunning and brought me to tears.

The second and Third time was in New York Both performances were amazing, strong performers and a great setting.

This most recent showing I wish i would never had seen. We set closer then i have set before and I highly regret it. The performers were the worst I have seen, I felt they had no heart at all.

I usually side with the Phantom, but this phantom did not compell me at all.

The worst part! After their bows the Phantom came out and preached about AIDs awareness, After the crowd had spent 2.5 hrs and tons of money to be a part of this epic. It was shattered in a moment. SHAME SHAME SHAME

Still a Must See for anyone in NYC, Sep 06, 2010
reviewer: Zack F from Slatington, PA USA
Went to see the show on 9-3-2010: Had seats towards the rear of the orchestra section, center stage. The plot was amazing. The cast was high energy, the special effects were outstanding, and the sound system was clear and crisp.
John Cudia as Phantom and Jennifer Hope Wills as Christine had an awesome chemistry. It is incredible to me that the entire cast manages to keep the show so fresh and vital even after the many shows that they have performed.
IMHO, the Phantom is still a Must See for anyone looking for a premium theater experience.
Highly Recommended.

Showing its age!, Apr 30, 2007
reviewer: Geoff and Pauline Wanstall from England
My husband and I have seen Phantom three times in London plus the film and this production was certainly not a patch on the London one. We felt that some of the performers were rather lack lustre, the music was a terrible let down - where was the wonderful crescendo at the beginning? The sound was pretty awful and I have heard better singers than the woman who played Christine in our local amateur theatre. Andrew Lloyd Webber would be horrified if he saw this production as it is now. We also thought that some of the theatre staff were extremely rude to the paying customers, shouting at them to sit down in their seats! They should be taught some manners! It just wouldn't happen in London! Perhaps the director should head down to see the production of Curtains where the cast are so enthusiastic and you can hear every word spoken and sung.

Absolutely Wonderful!, Apr 11, 2006
reviewer: Nicole from OH
I am 35, visited NY for the first time and being a fan of the 1943 version of Phantom of the opera I HAD to see the broadway version. At first I wasn't thrilled because it vered from the 1943 version quite a bit.. but after only a short time, it captured me. It showed the more romantic side vs the HORROR side. I cried twice because it was so wonderful and aspiring! I wish I could have seen it again the next day. Even my husband enjoyed it.

The actors and actresses had amazing voices. There were several teenagers in the theater as well and I thought they would be yaking through the show, but the theater was so quite as EVERYONE was captured by the experience. No wonder it is the longest playing broadway show EVER. 18 Years and still running a sold out show every time.
