Bloody Jackson is just plain offensive, Nov 10, 2010

I found this play simply offensive. It claims to be satirical humor, but it's more a racist platform that targets American Indians and others.
I wondered why the writers didn't just create a play based on the truth about Jackson which is far more interesting and racist than anything the play dished out. But then I realized -- Andrew Jackson is a white guy. Even though he lied and cheated and bullied and killed his way into the White House, he's still white. Telling those truths would make him look bad.
I am sure, however, that good old Andy's spirit is sitting in the theater applauding this joke the Jacob Theater calls entertainment. Maybe I even passed him when I walked out early in disgust. |

| This is an awesome production of humor and politics and presents an interesting perspective on an ugly period in America's history. The actors generate enthusiasm and give the play a youthful energy that was infectious! Its upbeat and innovative songs will be remembered! Lots of fun and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! |

| This show should've quit while it was ahead by keeping its home in the smaller venues. While it was good and well-suited for off-broadway's Public Theater, it lost it's appeal on the Broadway stage. The humor is better suited for smaller, intimate theatres.(imagine SNL improv on a broadway stage). I would not recommend buying a ticket to see it. |

| I hated everything about this show. The inconsequential music, the sophomoric, homophobic level of the humor, the ridiculous set, the over the top costumes and performances. This is in no way a serious treatment of the presidency of Andrew Jackson. What a disappointing waste of my time and the actors' talents. No matter what the critics say, I hope the actors all go on to bigger and much better. |
