WHAT'S HOT ON BROADWAY

Direct from London comes the Donmar Warehouse production of Red a moving and compelling account of one of the greatest artists of the 20th century whose struggle to accept his growing riches and praise became his ultimate undoing. Starring Alfred Molina and Eddie Redmayne at the John Golden Theater.

All the critics are agreeing that Nathan Hawke's second directorial work off-broadway has hit the mark with Sam Shepard's award winning play, A Lie of the Mind, a tale of longing and revenge. Runs until March 20th at the Acorn Theater.

John Lithgow and Jennifer Ehle star in Douglas Carter Beane's new comedy Mr & Mrs Fitch, that takes a scathing look at who is in, who is out and who may not even exist at all. At the Second Stage Theater until march 21st.

Denzel Washington returns to Broadway in Fences, the classic August Wilson play set in 1950s Pittsburgh, the drama follows Troy Maxson, a former baseball player in the Negro Leagues, now reduced to collecting trash. Opens at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater April 14th.

Set in the South in the 1880s, The Miracle Worker tells the story of real-life Medal of Freedom winner Helen Keller, who suddenly lost her sight and hearing at the age of 19 months, and the extraordinary teacher who taught her to communicate with the world, Annie Sullivan. Starring Abigail Breslin and Alison Pill at the Circle in the Square Theater.

Scarlet Johansson makes her Broadway debut starring alongside Liev Schreiber in Arthur Miller's tragic story of a man who loses his honor. A View From The Bridge at the Cort Theater.

Martin McDonagh transplants his Grand Guignol-style comedy from Ireland to Washington state in the world premiere of his latest play, A Behanding in Spokane, starring Christopher Walken. Now at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater.

David Mamet + edgy material + the state of the world = Race. The World premiere of the new Mamet play Race featuring James Spader opens on the 6th of December at the Ethel Barrymore Theater.

2009 TONY AWARD WINNERS

At last the waiting is over, and after all the excitement of the most glamorous night on Broadway the winners of the 2009 Tony Awards have been announced. Billy Elliot, The Musical danced away with top theater honors on Sunday, winning 10 Tony Awards out of 15 nominations for a Broadway season that defied a recession with record ticket sales.
