Three men compete for the fair Elvira's hand. Don Carlo The King, Silvio, a knight and Ernani, a thief. In due course, her honor is fought over valiantly and often, leading to tragedy. Based on a story by Victor Hugo, Ernani became one of Verdi's most popular plays in his lifetime, continuing to into the present day. Will star the acclaimed Spanish tenor, Placido Domingo. Metropolitan Opera House : Closes 20th April 2015

The Met's unforgettable production of Verdi's ancient Egyptian drama stars Liudmyla Monastyrska once again, alongside Latonia Moore, and Oksana Dykand. They share the title role of the enslaved Ethiopian princess caught in a love triangle with the heroic Radames, played by Marcello Giordani and Marco Berti, and the proud Egyptian princess Amneris, sung by Olga Borodina and Violeta Urmana. Nicholas Hytner's powerful production features a strong cast for Verdi's epic vision of the Spanish Inquisition. Featuring Yonghoon Lee as Don Carlo and Ferruccio Furlanetto as the commanding King Phillip, this co-production with the Royal Opera House in London and The Norwegian National Opera and ballet, this grand opera is sure to be a highlight of the season. Renee Fleming marks her return to the Met with the title role in Francis Lehar's classic operetta. Directed by Tony Award winning Susan Stroman (The Producers), this production promises a lavish take on Lehar's comic story of love blossoming amidst bureaucratic wrangling. Set against the background of fin de siecle Paris, scenes take place at Maxim's, with Fleming singing the role of the beguiling heiress that has all of Paris under her spell. More info

Albina Shagimuratova stars as Donizetti's fragile and unhinged heroine in this Mary Zimmerman production of Lucia di Lammermoor. Ms. Shagimuratova plays Lucia, the young woman separated from her secret lover and forced to marry against her will. One of the most dramatic and bloody operas there is! More info
