Maija Kovalevska, Anita Hartig, and Barbara Frittoli star as the frail Mim in Franco Zeffirelli's classic production, with Joseph Calleja and Vittorio Grigolo sharing the role of her passionate lover, Rodolfo. Metropolitan Opera House : Closes 20th April 2015
The Met's unforgettable production of Verdi's ancient Egyptian drama stars Liudmyla Monastyrska once again, alongside Latonia Moore, and Oksana Dykand. They share the title role of the enslaved Ethiopian princess caught in a love triangle with the heroic Radames, played by Marcello Giordani and Marco Berti, and the proud Egyptian princess Amneris, sung by Olga Borodina and Violeta Urmana. Rossini's most popular opera returns to the Metropolitan Opera with Isabel Leonard as the Rosina and Lawrence Brownlee as Almaviva, the romantic youth trying to woo her, and Christopher Maltman as the inimitable Figaro. Eva-Maria Westbroek stars in this Met Opera production of Shostakovich's tragedy. She plays the adulterous wife, Katerina, who is unfaithful to her husband with the visiting labourer, Sergei. When her father-in-law discovers her infidelity, she murders him with rat poison. Will Katerina and Sergei be able to keep their affair a secret? This production stars soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek as Katerina. More info
Metropolitan Opera House : Closes 20th December 2014
The Metropolitan Opera are kicking off this season with Le Nozze di Figaro, brilliantly updated to the gilded 1920s of Seville. Set over the course of one mad cap day, we re-join the characters of Figaro, Rosina and Count Almivira from The Barber of Seville, and the servants that have to outwit their increasingly crazy behaviour. This is a new production and is directed by Richard Eyre. More info
