Bursting out of Nevada with their debut album Hot Fuss in in 2004, the quartet went on to sell 22 million albums internationally, becoming one of the most recognisable rock bands of the modern era. 2017 sees Ed Sheeran taking his blockbuster studio album Divide on tour across North America. The British artist's status as one of the biggest sing-songwriters out at the moment is certainly cemented in this, his third album, which contains the mega-hit singles Shape Of You, and Castle On The Hill. It's seen him topping the charts across the world and infuses his delicate, acoustic pop with even more pronounced R&B flourishes. More info

BRUNO MARS

Bruno Mars is on top of the world right now. Still basking in the success of his Mark Ronson collaboration 'Uptown Funk', he followed it up with another fierce of glittering pop funk, '24K Magic', the lead single from the album of the same name. A showcase for his incredible skills as a songwriter, musician and all round entertainer, 24K Magic is another entry in a hits filled catalogue which has seen Bruno become one of the biggest names in music.

Brazilian actor and musician Seu Jorge first gained notice with his role as Knockout Ned 2004's City of God, but it was his work on the soundtrack of Wes Anderson's nautical adventure movie The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou that made him an international name, covering some of the the great David Bowie's songs acoustically beautifully lilting Portuguese throughout the film. This year sees Harry Styles' debut solo record released, and he is revving up for his first-ever solo tour sans ex-bandmates One Direction. Arguably the most beloved of the boys due to his cherubic looks and wavy hair, young Styles has booked up 13 dates in the States, before heading off to Japan and Australia (watch out for those koala bears, Harry)! The Harry Styles: Live On Tour is set to be one of the year's biggest concert engagements due to demand, and he is set to make his big-screen debut in July's upcoming war movie, Dunkirk. More info

Joe Bonamassa is the guitarist's guitarist. A master of the blues, Bonamassa easily ranks alongside the more well known Clapton or Jeff Beck. Such was his prodigious talent that he supported B.B. King at the tender of age of twelve in 1989, and was christened by King as "one of a kind." Since then, he's played with anyone who is anyone and released a formidable catalogue of studio albums. The New York Phil's 2017/18 season gets underway with a stirring double bill that features music by Mahler and Philip Glass. Conducted by the new Musical Director Designate Jaap van Zweden, after the departure of Alan Gilbert, his first concert also welcomes sibling pianist virtuosos Katia and Marielle Labeque, whose most famous work is their renowed album Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, which was one of the first classical albums to reach gold status. They will be putting their prodigious talents to work on Glass' Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra. More info

Although Sixto Rodriguez's music career took over 40 years to kick off, 2012 saw the Detroit singer-songwriter shoot to international stardom with the release of Searching for Sugarman, a documentary movie about his success in South Africa and the fans who travelled to the USA to try find the elusive musician they'd listened to growing up in the 80s. Iconic Spanish tenor and heartthrob Jose Carreras returns to Carnegie Hall this September, marking his first, long-awaited performance since 2003. A rare visitor to the States, Carreras is now marking his retirement from the opera scene, with this recital forming part of his Farewell Tour. Joining the legendary singer on stage will be soprano Margarita Griskova and gifted pianist Lorenzo Bavaj. Having performed in a plethora of operas at the Met including "Carmen," "Tosca" "La Boehme," "La Traviata,"Luisa Miller," Le Forza del Destino," and "Adriana Lecouvreur, this is a fitting way to bid farewell. The New York Phil play John Williams' iconic score live to a screening of the movie. The follow-up to the hugely successful A New Hope, Empire Strikes back finds Luke and Co. doing battle against the all powerful Empire, and gave us one of the most famous reveals in movie history. More info

Philly natives The War On Drugs mix the delicate angularities of Indie-Rock, Americana, Shoegaze and Post-Punk Psychedelia to form a new kind of American Rock, the frontier of which they share with Young, Dylan, Springsteen and Knopfler.
