Hedwig and the Angry Inch is a musical comedy about a fictional rock 'n' roll band fronted by a transgender singer from East Berlin. Directed by Tony-winning Michael Mayer of Spring Awakening and American Idiot, Hedwig and the Angry Inch won four 2014 Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Musical and Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for its former star, Neil Patrick Harris.
